Samsung DVD-L25 Hand Held Mini DVD's Player Review

Samsung DVD-L25 Hand Held Mini DVD's Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The system (as of 9 Sept 2006) is incorrectly listed as a "Samsung DVD-L25 Portable DVD Player with 3" Screen"
This discription is wrong:
The unit does not have a 3" screen, it has a 2.5" screen. This can be verified on samsungs web site which states:
"Samsung offers this new ultra portable DVD player which plays Mini-DVDs and displays images on a bright 2.5" TFT LCD"
Also this "DVD Player" will not play standard size DVDs. It is technicaly a "Mini DVD player" and will only play the special 3" mini DVDs used in DVD video cameras.
Getting beyond Amazon's deceptive advertising practices the unit has several issues:
Battery life is horrible. It is advertised at 2.5 hours but I am getting considerably less. While the batteries are rechargeable it is a hassle as they have to be removed from the unit.
While blank media abounds publishers have abandoned the mini-DVD format, anything you play on the unit you will have to "burn" yourself.
For a portable unit it is VERY sensitive to any vibration. For best viewing place on a table or other stationary surface.
It looks toylike but this is not for younger children. There are too many buttons, no "hold" mode (the buttons are always active), the main control is a finicky joystick and a nasty "put an eye out" warning if you lift the lid to look at the laser.

One of the smallest portable DVD players available--at 4.3 x 6.7 x 1.3 inches--the handheld Samsung DVD-L25 also sports an incredibly cool rounded design with an integrated, bright 2.5-inch TFT LCD color screen. It plays 8cm (3.5-inch) Mini-DVD discs (not standard, full-sized DVDs), so you'll need to record video and audio content from your PC or disc library to Mini-DVD disc. The DVD-L25 will also play MP3 and WMA digital audio and JPEG digital photo files as well as 8cm (3.5-inch) Mini-CD discs.
It runs on 4 AA batteries and includes rechargeable NiMH batteries for up to 2.5 hours of playback. It also is powered by the included AC adapter. It sports and easy-to-use joystick controller on the front of the unit, as well as a small speaker. It includes a single headphone jack.

Panasonic KX-TSC11W Corded Phone with Caller ID (White) Review

Panasonic KX-TSC11W Corded Phone with Caller ID (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I selected this phone in order to provide caller ID in our kitchen. Our phone is mounted in a part of the kitchen that does NOT have a nearby electrical outlet that most of Caller ID phones require. This one operates on two AA batteries and is simple and easy to use. The only drawback is that when the phone is mounted on a wall surface there is a space of about 1/4 inch between the phone and the wall that is a bit unsightly when viewed from the side, but this is not a serious drawback.

The corded design of this classic phone may look old-fashioned, but you'll be glad to have it on hand in the event of a power outage. You can place the base on a convenient surface or easily mount it on the wall, saving on counter space. A 50-number phone book lets you store your most frequently called numbers, and the 20-number redial allows you to easily resume interrupted conversations. With subscription to local service, the three-line LCD screen lets you know the name and number of callers--and stores up to 50 calls in its memory, that you can return at the touch of a button. The phone is white with a gray keypad. The KX-TSC11W comes with a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

Philips PET708/37 Portable DVD Player with Dual LCD Display Screens and Car Mount Kit Review

Philips PET708/37 Portable DVD Player with Dual LCD Display Screens and Car Mount Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I went and purchased this on a whim after my 10.2 inch DVD died after 2 months. This has two screens that mount to the headrest in a very secure manner, which eliminates the 'swing' problem of the one DVD screen strapped between the seats. The mount is very secure and is at a good height for my children to view it in the backseat of our minivan. I like the controls and the ease of use. The picture is excellent quality.
The con is that the battery cannot be used when the player is mounted on the headrest because it covers the connections, so it must be plugged into the cigarette lighter for car viewing. Not a big deal for us, but something to keep in mind.
This player seems better quality than my previous player. I would recommend the extended warranties for these - they get banged around a lot and are fragile.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8K 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Black) Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8K 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In my opionion, the Panasonic DMC-FX8 and FX9 are the best choices in the ultra compact camera category. I have owned a couple of the Canon SD cameras (SD200 and SD300) and the pictures produced by the FX7/8/9 are vastly superior, esp. with Indoor Shots. The Image Stabilization really helps in Indoor, Low-Light Settings which if you are like me, is where you take the majority of your snapshots. The Canon SD500/550 are arguably better cameras due to their bigger sensor, 7 MPs, and stronger flash BUT they are not small enough to toss into my front pocket (a pre-requisite). As for the cracked LCD screens, google "Canon and Cracked LCD Screen". It is not an isolated problem! The best precaution you can take is two-fold. Buy a LCD screen protector as well as a hard camera case (I review one of each btw).
Finally, the FX8/FX9 have corrected the two major complaints people had with the very popular and well-regarded DMC-FX7. They now boast a faster AF, a longer-lasting battery and 640x480 Movie Mode. If they had manual controls, they would have created the elusive "perfect ultra compact" camera!

2.5" Diagonal High-Resolution LCD for Brighter Viewing The DMC-FX9 features a 2.5" diagonal high-resolution LCD monitor - surprisingly large for such a compact camera. This high-quality, 207,000-pixel display makes it easy to see your subject. For easier viewing when shooting outdoors on a sunny day, press the Power LCD button to boost the backlighting by about 40%. Easy-to-See, Easy-to-Understand LCD Indications In addition to displaying the settings in large, easy-to-understand text, the large, 2.5" diagonal screen with 230,000-pixel resolution lets you show up to 25 thumbnail images at once. This makes it easier to search for, and organize, the photos you take. Our MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer Helps Eliminate Blurry Pictures Jitter from shaky hands is one of the main reasons why cameras produce blurry images. We don't expect everyone to have hands of stone when taking pictures--that's why Lumix? cameras help solve the problem of unsteady hands with advanced MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer technology. The DMC-FX9 has a built-in gyrosensor that detects any hand movement and relays a signal to a tiny microcomputer inside the camera, which instantly calculates the compensation needed. A linear motor then shifts the Optical Image Stabilizer lens as necessary to guide incoming light from the image straight to the CCD. You won't even notice it working--all you'll see are the outstanding results! Stunning High-Speed AF in a Slim Body Select the AF setting from Spot, 1-point (normal or high-speed), 3-point high-speed, and 5-point. The 1-point normal setting solves the "image-freezing" that used to happen while focusing on fast-moving subjects, and makes them easier to track. Furthermore, the new 1-point high-speed mode slashes conventional AF time to about 1/32. High-speed auto focusing has finally come to the compact digital camera. Plus, the AF Assist Lamp helps when focusing in low lighting.

Serious problem. The volume buttons do not function properly. In the middle of a conference call on speakerphone, the volume goes straight to it highest settting. Pushing the down volume button doesn't do anything. The reset option also does not work. However, sometimes it does work. I find that that this happens many many times. I really liked this phone until this unreliable feature is one. SO dissapointed, as I bought it for the speakerphone. May be a result of not using batteries as hinted at in the previous reviews. I am taking my phone back today. Can't anyone make a quality product anymore? This is ridiculuous.

Take notes, surf the Web, or iron a shirt while also talking over the phone with this GE two-line deluxe speakerphone. Ideal for home offices, the simple corded design ensures a reliable, smooth connection, while the built-in speakerphone--which boasts an adjustable volume control--keeps the chatter flowing while you complete other tasks. The phone comes with two lines, so you can conduct conference calls or talk with one client while another waits on hold. Each line also includes its own distinctive ringer and line status light, along with an electronic hold that releases automatically.
The phone does more than just provide a venue for conversation, however. It also sports a convenient data port for connecting a modem, fax, or answering machine in place of the second phone line. To receive faxes on either line, for instance, the user merely switches the data port switch to line one or two, then waits for the transmission. You can also switch the data port to one line while talking on the other, ensuring that your conversation flows steadily without interruption.
When you're on a call, the LCD screen displays the precise length of each conversation--a useful feature when tracking billable hours. Meanwhile, the speed-dial memory includes space for 32 separate entries with 32 digits each. Additional features include one-touch redial, compatibility with hearing aids, and a 19-volt battery backup that preserves the phone settings in case of power failure. The phone measures 5.75 by 4 by 8.75 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

OmniMount CL-MP Articulating Wall Mount for 23" to 42" Displays (Silver) Review

OmniMount CL-MP Articulating Wall Mount for 23 to 42 Displays (Silver)
Average Reviews:

Omnimount is great about putting all of the details on their website regarding how to mount the unit, which TV's it fits, and so on. Omnimount manufactures some nice mounting equipment and this mount is an example. The unit mounts easily, quickly, and meets all the specs on Omnimount's site.
Additional Features that are hard to notice in the pictures include:
Integrated cable tray for routing cables from the wall to the TV
Spring Tensioned adjustment on the rear for adjusting til.
The bolts tension the TV in place so it can be bumped without moving out of position, but it can be moved with relative easy when you desire to do so.
The mounting process is easy since you do the steps as follows:
Mount support plate to the wall.
Hang the arm on the support plate; it hangs on there and allows you to put the bolts in without a second person.
Mount the TV mounting plate to the back of the TV.
Hang the TV on the arm; again, if done properly, it will hang and allow you to do it without a second person assuming you are strong enough to lift the TV above your head.

The new Wishbone Series flat panel cantilever wall mounts will heighten the "wow" factor of any television room as much as the new LCD or plasma screen it is holding. Designed with the consumer and installer in mind, these flat panel cantilever mounts are as practical as wall mounts come, yet highly versatile and easy to install. Unlike traditional basic wall brackets, OmniMountas Wishbone Series cantilevers allow the flat panel television to be extended away from the wall for multiple viewing options. Rugged die cast aluminum construction and included wall stud mounting hardware secures not only the flat panel television, but peace of mind as well. A double-capacity cable management system allows for twice as many unsightly wires to be neatly tucked away within the cantileveras housing for a clean, organized look.

Belkin F8Z498 Tunecast Auto Live FM Transmitter and Charger for iPod/iPhone Review

Belkin F8Z498 Tunecast Auto Live FM Transmitter and Charger for iPod/iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Belkin Tunecast Auto Live is different from other FM Transmitters on the market because, through a special iPhone app, it can use GPS to determine the best frequency for you to use. After testing this transmitter with the app on my iPhone 3GS, I have the following opinions:
-You can only use the GPS function when the App is open, which means you can't run other apps when using the Belkin app. So if you're listening to Pandora when you suddenly need to change the frequency, you'll have to close Pandora in order to open the Belkin app. (EDIT: Apple's iOS 4 now allows for multi-tasking, so this particular point of mine is no longer valid, although you still have to go through the hassle of changing apps to change a frequency)
-The GPS function is useless. It kept telling me to use a particular frequency which did not work well. I could press the button on the iPhone app to cycle through frequencies, but the same useless frequencies would keep repeating.
-The Clearscan function (the button on the transmitter itself) is also useless, for pretty much the same reasons as above.
-Try to use the app to change the frequency of the Belkin transmitter while in rush-hour traffic. Yup, another driving distraction. (Memo to Belkin's lawyers: sooner or later, you'll need a warning in the manual along the lines of "do not use the app while driving")
-If I listened to Heavy Metal or loud Hip-Hop music, I might be ok with the sound quality from this transmitter. But since I listen to softer music, I find the constant background hissing and static to be very very annoying.
-I do LIKE the display though, the amber color is very pleasing. (hey, I'm trying hard to find some positives too)
Overall, I don't recommend this transmitter. In fact, I've gone through many of the different transmitters from the different brands and the only one that worked perfectly and which I recommend is Griffin's iTrip. The reason is that the Griffins all have a hidden feature called "International" mode which allow the use of the 87.7 and 87.9 frequencies, as they are open frequencies in the United States (meaning there isn't a single U.S. radio station on those frequencies). But only the Griffins can use those frequencies, all other transmitters (including this very Belkin model) can go as low as 88.1 only. The Griffins also have a feature to boost transmitting power by setting the output to Mono, rather than the default Stereo which seems to produce a weaker signal. For more details on these functions, see the reviews for the Griffin iTrip products.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR Camera & 18-55mm IS Lens + EF 75-300mm III Zoom Lens + 32GB Card + Battery + Canon 2400 DSLR Gadget Bag Case + HDMI Cable + Filters Kit Review

Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR Camera and 18-55mm IS Lens + EF 75-300mm III Zoom Lens + 32GB Card + Battery + Canon 2400 DSLR Gadget Bag Case + HDMI Cable + Filters Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of many Canon T2i kits offered by Cameta Camera. There is a small gap in focal length between the 18-55 and the 70-300 mm lenses but that's not a big issue for me. Both lenses have auto focus motors but only the 18-55 has image stabilization. This isn't a big deal unless you're shooting at slow shutter speeds, in which case you would benefit from a tripod. I chose this kit because it came with everything I needed to get started with a DSLR and nothing I didn't need. For example, some kits include a tripod but I already had one so I opted for a larger memory card. If you have an HDMI input on your TV, the HDMI cable allows you to view your photos and movies in all their high definition glory. A spare battery means you won't run out of juice in the middle of your kid's birthday party or whatever you're shooting. The bag is very nice...compact but roomy enough to hold everything that comes with this kit. UV filters protect the lenses from dirt and scratches as well as filter out UV light which can give your outdoor shots a blueish tint. The SD card wallet holds 3 cards and it's a good idea to carry at least one spare. The cleaning kit and screen protectors are nice extras to top it off.
This is my first DSLR. It's an upgrade from a Canon point and shoot that I've had for about 7 years. Back then, DSLR's were way too expensive so if you wanted a digital camera and weren't made of money, you had to settle for a point and shoot. I had a couple of film SLR cameras before that and, although I've taken some good shots with the point and shoot, I missed the flexibility and creative control of an SLR. One big advantage of a DSLR is the ability to change ISO sensitivity from shot to shot. With a film camera, you're stuck with one ISO (ASA) setting for the whole roll. I still have one of my film cameras but just saw a report this morning about the demise of Kodachorme film. As of Dec. 30, Kodak will no longer make it!
The Canon T2i is a camera you can grow with. If you're a beginner, you can use full auto mode and get some very nice snap shots. As your skills improve, you'll want to advance to modes that give you more creative control and start taking great photos. And, of course, you can use the entire range of Canon EF lenses with this camera. Be patient, there's a lot to learn...the manual is 258 pages long! In addition to the manual, I would recommend a book called "Canon EOS Rebel T2i/550D, From Snapshots to Great Shots" by Jeff Revell. This camera specific photography book is aimed at beginners, takes you through every menu and setting and has some great examples of what you can do with this camera.
Finally, I'd like to say a few kind words about the vendor, Cameta Camera. I was very pleased with them. My order arrived sooner than expected (and this was the week before Christmas!) Everything was in the box as described and, as a pleasant surprise, they upgraded my SD card from class 6 to class 10. (The higher the class, the faster the data is written to the card. This is important if you shoot a lot of video or use the burst mode.) It was all well packed and protected for shipping. I would buy from Cameta again and I would recommend them to anyone shopping for camera equipment. Thanks also to Amazon and American Express for allowing me to use rewards points from both!
The Canon T2i is a very advanced DSLR and probably the best one available for under $1k. With this whole kit costing less that $1k, you can't go wrong!

Advanced On-Wall TV Installation and Mounting Review

Advanced On-Wall TV Installation and Mounting
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(Please see my update at the end) Zip is a pathetic excuse for the term 'service'. They were prompt and polite in setting up an appointment. For that I'll give them one star. The installers called a day prior to confirm day and time as well as make sure that I had a cable they said I'd need that wasn't included in the cost. I did. I should have suspected something when the Installer who called, did so using a land line in a sports bar.
Our 3:00 to 5:00 appointment slipped to their arrival at 7:30 with several "We're on our way and will be there very soon" calls. When they did arrive, they were missing parts. The main Tech didn't like the support I chose from Amazon.com because he said it would be difficult to hang the TV strait. I offered to lend him my level. They rescheduled, asking me to order $70+ in extra parts, which required expedited shipping costs to get in time.
Note that when I complained to Amazon.com, asking if they could offer any discount on the expedited shipping, they threw their hands up and said "It's not our problem."
Less than 24 hours prior to the second appointment, I got another call from Zip. The caller said that because the installers offered to run the electrical wire through the wall in addition to the other wires, it would take them 4.5 additional hours and an extra person. Note that the installer didn't even have the molding included in the original order on their truck when they came. That would have been fine. No, now they wanted an additional $300.
I asked that they cancel. Zip said, "No problem, You weren't even charged yet." I just checked my credit card online and I was charged. I'm thankful that I paid with a credit card that offers decent service so I can block payment if I don't get a credit.
I checked Angieslist.com and found that I could hire an installer for about $300 who would do the complete job, including parts, on time. What an annoying waste of time. Nightmare.Update 12/22/10:
I'm updating the review and raising my rating from one to three stars because I'm impressed at the response from Zip Installation.
First of all, Amazon reiterated that they have no responsibility for the services of this company, apologized for my troubles and promptly refunded my payment for installation but not for expedited parts shipment.
Second, the V.P. of Operations over at Zip called, apologized and offered to send out a different installer to do the job at no charge. Now that's service! However, I'd already installed the power bridge and cables in-wall and mounted the TV myself (with a little help lifting the 60-lb TV onto the mount). Still, the V.P. of Operations was very interested in my experience, noted a number of changes he planned to implement to their processes and promised me that their technicians arrived on time, with parts and no extra charges over 90% of the time.
Notes:
1 - If you're interested in adding installation to your order and want a no-fuss out of wall install with paintable moldings to hide your cables Zip is probably the easiest way to get the job done.
2 - If you want your cables in-wall, do a little research first. Some area building codes allow a homeowner or TV installer to run a power bridge (to add an outlet directly behind your TV) through a wall and some don't. That's probably why Zip only offers molding to hide your power cord as an orderable service on Amazon (no mention of power bridge). Depending on where you live, you may need to hire a certified electrician to get your power through the wall and to your TV. Check out the "How to Install Your TV" videos on YouTube to get an idea of what it would take to do the install you're looking for. Don't take a cost increase or service reduction for an answer. Ask for options. When I made my appointment, I was OK with the molding and didn't even know what a power bridge was.
3 - Prepare. The V.P. at Zip told me that the initial questions their rep will ask when making an appointment will be more thorough and better communicated to the installer in the future. You don't want your cables hidden within molding or behind your wall only to find out that you're short a cable. Depending on your set-up; cable box or antenna, surround sound and other components, you'll need different connections. Read your manuals and diagram your cables prior to installation. Don't count on the Installer or person scheduling your appointment to know the details of your media center configuration.
4 - It is possible for a homeowner to do their own install. I'm a 40-something mother of two with some construction experience gleaned from volunteer work including Habitat for Humanity. A 10-part "How to Install a TV Over a Fireplace" video on YouTube gave me a good idea on the most difficult installation I'd be likely to find. The power bridge ordered through Amazon had complete instructions. I used a stud finder and some painters tape to see what the installation was likely to entail and figured I'd do it myself since my specific case was much simpler than I'd imagined.
5 - My Installer arrived without the necessary parts and then offered a more expensive option. If you're not comfortable with the Technician who comes to your home, call Zip. If you've ever hired a contractor for a remodel or even a smaller job, you know that some are fantastic and others pathetic. The VP at Zip told me that they go through a rigorous screening process but that this particular Technician didn't have a track record with their organization. Zip, according to their rep, is willing to send out someone else if necessary.
Overall, Zip is a reasonably priced installation service for your new HDTV. They were able to schedule an appointment so that our HDTV should have been installed in time for our teen-age daughter's "Movie Night". Each time I talked with a Zip employee, I got someone in the USA who was professional, knowledgeable, helpful and didn't have an accent I couldn't understand.

Samsung LNT4665F 46" 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LNT4665F 46 1080p LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I searched for a flat-screen tv for a couple of months, and finally chose the 4665. I chose the size of the TV based on my room, and decided 50 was too big and 42 too small. This left me without a decision on plasma vs lcd, which was ok with me. Plasma has more basic issues, and going LCD was not a sacrifice - except I had yet to see a LCD with black blacks, so I was not sure what I would see in the 46" range.
As for price range, I decided that I was going to buy the tv that I was happiest with. It was not that I have unlimited budget, just that I wanted to make sure that I would going to be completely satisfied with a 2-3k purchase. I really only knew about the plasma tv's in 42" 720p, so I had a lot of research to do to understand what to buy.
After reading hundreds of reviews and going to several stores to comparison shop, I was basically down to three Samsung models. I was considering the LN-T4665F, LN-T4661F and the LNS4696. Going straight by the specs, the 4665 looked to be the best because of the 15000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. With this in mind, I was confused to see that BestBuy has the 4696 in their Magnolia section and not the 4665 - my only guess is that it is because the 4665 does not have a cableCard slot.
After lots of playing I was more than happy with each of the TVs, and my choices were narrowed down by wanting more hdmi's right on the set, wanting the best possible contrast, and the glossy screen on the 4665. I have seen several complaints about the glossy screen, however this was a selling feature for me - for the same reason that I ordered a MacBook Pro with the glossy screen - I just think that it makes moves look better. I can deal with reflection during the day to get a picture that I am happier with when watching a movie at night.
I must say that I am extremely impressed so far. I have not had a single image problem yet, and the setup was clearly the worst part of this tv. All-in-all, I am 100% satisfied with this purchase.
So here's my brief summary of the high/low points:
Pros:
1. (3) HDMI inputs
2. Excellent contrast - forget the numbers, as they are fiction - the blacks are black
3. Glossy screen - movies spectacular - Toy Story is mind-blowing!
4. Weight - This is one of the newer, lighter sets
5. Price - Not that this set was cheap, but I liked this over the Sony and would have spent another $1,000 to get a comparable Sony - and I hate the glass around the Sony's
Cons:
1. No cableCard slot - really only matters if you want to mount it on the wall
That's how I see it. I give this TV my highest endorsement.

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung's 2007 model LNT4665F is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4665F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.
The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.
Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

What's in the box: Samsung LNT4665F 46-inch 1080P LCD TV, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, Power Cord, cleaning cloth, owners manual, warranty card.

Philips 7" Dual Screen Portable DVD Player - PET726 Review

Philips 7 Dual Screen Portable DVD Player - PET726
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just bought this a couple of days ago at Target. It seems to work very well. The most obvious negative thing to me about it is that the second screen is very low quality. This second screen doesn't have a very good picture quality. The only picture adjustment on it is brightness. It also can't be powered from the main unit. It must be powered separately. (the supplied power cord has a splitter). the sound from both screens is very good (for a small portable DVD player.)
My other primary concern is that the main unit doesn't have any but the very basic controls on the unit. Most functions must be done on the remote. I may bring it back just for this. We tend to lose remotes around here.
Other than those two things it seems to be a very nice unit. It doesn't have a very long battery life according to the manual but we used it on battery for almost 2 hours yesterday and it has not run out of power yet.
Build quality and picture quality of the main unit seem good. I don't know how durable the opening and closing function of the DVD will be. (The screen slides down over the DVD carousel. To open it you just push teh screen up. If you don't hold on to it tightly when closing, it will close very abruptly. I wouold expect that little kids opening and closing this over time would break it.)
Target offered a 3 year plan for only 19.00 so I'll have it for at least that long.
Have not tried the mounting cases yet.

The camera feels flimsy, but works well. It is a great value for the price. The tiny internal memory means that you will almost certainly want to purchase an additional memory card.

Sony ICDB600 Digital Voice Recorder Review

Works great. Currently using it for lecture classes. It picks up every word the instructor says when set on high frequency.
For all those clicking through the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews. There seems to be a few misunderstandings about this product. Let me try to clarify them for those who can't afford the pricier models.
1) Slide the hold button and it will turn off in a few seconds (battery won't die if you turn it off)
2) The notes DO NOT REPEAT 10 TIMES TO ERASE. Click play, hit erase button twice in sequence and it will... ERASE.
3) No where in product description does it state you can transfer to your computer. In fact let me type out what it says directly on the box as well as whats not on the box so to clear up any further confusion:

I do not understand why people say that this is hard to use. Apparently these are the same people who do not have dvd players or ipods or maybe even cell phones. Welcome to the 21st century! This is an easy camera if you have any idea at all how to use a digital one. I have had one that is far more expensive that was so much less user friendly. This camera is actually for my 4 year old. It is pink and chunky, and easy for her to navigate. It is not like the slim model camera that I have, in other words this camera can take a little more rough treatment-not that it can be thrown or submersed in water like kiddie cameras can. But, I have a mature 4 year old who loves taking pics and is quite good, so I decided to get this after having an awful experience with a kiddie camera. The mp's are just right and though it may not have the pic quality of a 250 dollar camera, it does its thing just fine. For the people that are complaining about quality, you get what you pay for. It does not cost much, it works well, and for anyone with any kind of electronic ability it is easy. Remember, my 4 year old uses it, and I only showed her 1 time how to erase, review, zoom and play. So there's my review! Happy snapping...
