Although the title says portable TV, it's more than that. I have installed movies to watch on trips, video clips, tons of audio recordings to enjoy. The small size of the device but large enough to watch is a perfect fit. This device does everything it claims. I even scanned in TV stations while inside an airport.

APC BR1300G Back-UPS XS LCD 1300VA UPS Battery Backup with Master Control, 1300VA, 10-Outlet, 120V
Average Reviews:

I doubt I'll ever get to know the long term quality of this product because its going back ASAP.
I've spent years waiting for all my computer workstation gear to become relatively quiet. Over the past couple of years most computer & peripheral manufacturers have begun taking noisiness into account when designing their products. Finally, with the purchase of my most recent MAC several months ago (replacing a rather noisy 2005 MAC G5) all my computer components are now whisper quiet. That is, until today...
When I first plugged in the APC BR1300G I assumed the start up noise from the fan would subside after a self test of some sort or another. No dice! The noise emanating from this device has undone all the years of gradual improvement in noise pollution in my office. Its probably the single loudest piece of equipment I've installed in my office since my very earliest IBM 8088 XT clones. By itself, it is louder than all my most recently banished noisy components combined together. Mind you, that is with the UPS sitting several feet away from me and behind my desk. I don't understand why any cooling fans should be this loud in this day and age.
By the way, this unit replaces my 5 year old APC XS 1000 which was whisper quiet. I would've kept it except that it began to suffer a recurring overload fault. Aside from that, it worked wonderfully for the 5 years that I had it.

Just tested the DVD players on a two hour ride. Works perfectly and easy to set up. I like the fact that that the player remembers where it left off so you don't have to restart the movie from the beginning. The units can be powered either by cigarette lighter (both players) or wall outlet (for one player). And the straps for the vehicle head rests work just fine. Overall, I am pleased with this product.

Samsung LN22C450 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) Review

Samsung LN22C450 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am extremely happy with the performance of this TV, though I was initiatlly confused because the product is slightly different than the description on Amazon. There is only 1 HDMI port on the back on my model and nothing on the side of the TV. There is a USB but it's on the back. My model is definitely the LN22C450 but I spoke with Samsung and they told me that there is another LN22C450 that has an additional HDMI port on the side. Don't know why they have more than one model with the same name. I contacted Amazon about the issue and they offered me a discount which made me forget about the problem. I was impressed by the customer service dept. with Amazon. I liked the idea of a side HDMI connection, but I don't really need two HDMI ports so it wasn't a big enough deal. It would have been nice to have the USB on the side, for easier access, but I can live with reaching around the back since I'm not wall mounting it.
Now on to what I love about the TV:
-It has an excellent picture quality for all types of signals. I'm replacing a 15" Polariod and the quality is light years ahead. The picture is very bright with vivid colors. Regular cable is very clear and smooth, digital 480i cable looks great, and the 720p and 1080i are incredible.
-The sound is more than sufficient for a TV this size. It's rich and clear without the "tinny" sound of other TV's this size.
-The TV has a great digital tuner and picks up "over the air" HD stations very well. There's even a diagnostic signal strength meter. I'm able to pick up all my local network stations without any problems. I have a digital box I purchased that could not do this. I was thrilled to pull in HD signals without a separate antenna. I did not expect it to do this.
-It is well designed and easy to use. The menus are easy to follow and the setup is simple. Even the remote is great.
-It's a great looking TV. The speakers are hidden and it has a slight reddish tint to it near the bottom. It also has a nice low profile. It is about an inch shorter than the C350 even though the screen size is identical. I really liked this since I have it placed on a bookshelf. It's a perfect fit for the room I have it in.
Overall, this TV is awesome. I'm thoroughly enjoying march madness in HD!

Tripp Lite OMNI650LCD Digital LCD 650VA Line-Interactive UPS (8 Outlets)

Works but case gets very hot.
According to Tripp, unit uses about 1A of power in standby mode. Since the batteries are charged most of the time, the power is coverted to heat. The case gets very warm and since I have mine in an entertainment cabinet, it just becomes a 120 watt heating element. I have several UPS units and this is the only one which gets hot. Its a poor design to waste 120 watts of power 24/7. It only takes a couple watts to trickle charge the batteries. Tripp offered to replace it but stated the new one would have the same issue. I would not have purchased this if I knew it put out 100 plus watts of heat 24/7.

P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor Review

P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was amazed at some of the things I found around the house that draw power just sitting there doing nothing. This thing is easy to figure out and program in your cost per Kwh.
A couple of things I found by using this device:
-- the entertainment center costs me $11 a year to have just sit there in standby mode. This is a 32" LCD TV, surroundsound system, DVD player, Wii, and subwoofer all plugged into a Monster HTS 1000 MKIII PowerCenter with Clean Power Stage 2 (8 AC outlet, 2 coax, phone & network). If I watch a DVD or play the Wii, it costs me 40 cents a day, or about 3.33 cents an hour.
-- My gaming computer (Dual Core, 500 watt power supply and 19" LCD) cost me $99 a year to run 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. That includes the occasional laser printing and occasional 2.1 speaker usage. So I turn it off more often.
-- Cell phone charger: .86 cents a year, but when charging it costs me $1.73 a year.
-- New coffee pot costs me between 5-7 cents to brew a pot of coffee and let it sit for a couple hours.
-- Toaster at 350-degrees costs me about 11 cents an hour.
-- Dell laptop charger costs me about $1.70 a year to keep it plugged in. It's about a penny and hour to charge the laptop's battery.
-- NOAA handheld weather radio costs 86 cents a year to run 24/7
In the end, it seems like it is only really worth the trouble to unplug the entertainment center when not in use and turn off the computer more often. Sure, everything draws power, but we factored in the hassle of it versus the cost.
We have been unplugging stuff around the house when we are not using it, and began to wonder how much we are saving. This thing has helped out in deciding what's worth going through the hassle of unplugging each time, and the results are almost instantaneous. I highly recommend using this device to settle the score in the fight against wasted energy usage or even in helping decide which devices/appliances around your house aren't worth owning due to ridiculous power draws.
I'm still testing more items around the house, so check back later for updates.

Monster Cable MP AV 800 PowerCenter with Surge Protection Review

Monster Cable MP AV 800 PowerCenter with Surge Protection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought two surge protectors at the same time. One was the Monster AV 800, the other was APC Performance SurgeArrest 11 (PF11VT3).
The Monster is fine. Most importantly, it should do a good job of what it is designed for: extension cord + surge protection. It does NOT have a phone line protection, just for coax cables. But if your only criteria is whether it does it's job, it gets an A in that area.
But, I'm more picky, so here are additional items for consideration:
It has a right angle plug allowing it to be plugged easily to a wall behind a desk or other tight spots. The plug is angled towards the right hand side, so it's better if you're going to keep the surge protector on the right hand side of the wall outlet. My equipment was on the left side of the outlet on the wall, so the plug looks a little weird for me; the APC unit has a left angle, so that was a better fit. Obviously this is purely cosmetic.
I also have mixed feelings about the color-coded outlets. They also come with stickers so that you can tag the power cords, so that you know which cord belongs to which unit. That certainly makes things easy when you need to unplug just one of the items. On the other hand, since each plug is titled with a specific equipment name (TV, VCR, DVD Player), if you are plugging something else, you are stuck with using one of the existing tags so you have to sub-optimize. Again, just a cosmetic complaint.
But, overall, the main reason I'm not as passionate about the AV800 is that it is not as good a value as APC Performance SurgeArrest model is. I bought both at the same price (About $30 on Amazon). But:
a) APC comes with phone line protection, Monster doesn't (and in fact, you can connect two equipments to the same phone line on APC, so it also acts as a phone-line splitter)
b) APC has safety shutters on its outlets, Monster doesn't (Although they do make it slightly more difficult to plug things in and out of the APC unit, and some complain about this. I find it as a useful feature)
c) APC has 11 outlets, Monster has 8.
d) On APC, 2 of the outlets are "always on", while the remaining 8 can be swtiched on and off using the switch on the unit. This is useful, if you are going on vacation and want to leave only your VCR or DVR on for recording, but want to cut power off from your amplifier, your TV, and any other equipment. When you initially set it up, just make sure to put your VCR on the always on plugs. Then you can flip the switch to off and leave. Monster AV800 does not have such a feature, so the switch turns all outlets off.
e) Cord Guide - APC also has a cord guide, so you can group all cords together and guide them from one end of the surge protector, making it look a little tidier. It's not perfect, but better than nothing (which is what Monster has).
Finally, if you are obsessed about the joule rating (I'm not), the APC also has a higher joule rating at 2030 joules.
They both get the basic job done, but the APC comes with more bells and whistles, making life just a little easier, but for the same price.

Monster multiple surge guard circuitry absorbs harmful power surges to give you audio video system protectionharmful power surges and voltage spikes can travel up ac power and coax connections and damage your components. Lightning, automatic garage doors, power tools, refrigerators and fluorescent lights all cause power surges and voltage spikes that can travel up ac power lines and coax cables to damage the sensitive electronic circuitry of your connected audio video components.Ordinary surge protectors, or the so-called "value brands", often fail to provide the adequate level of protection your av components need.Plus, standard surge protectors often cause as much as 20 to 30db of signal loss which can adversely affect the output performance levels of coax connections. Proper connection to an advanced surge protector that offers integrated system protection can help minimize the risk of permanent surge damage. Unlike standard surge protectors, the monster PowerCenter av800 with Surgeguard protection provides multiple layers of defense against harmful surges.Strategically placed multiple metal oxide varasitors respond within one nanosecond (a billionth of a second) to power surges and voltage spikes before they can reach and damage your audio video components.Plus, monster's ultra-low loss RF circuitry minimizes signal loss to maintain the peak output performance of your coax connections. monster PowerCenters make life easier. Monster's flatprofile plug lets you push your furniture flush against the wall. And, with color-coded outlets and cord labels, you can avoid unplugging your VCR by mistake, causing it to blink "12:00".Finally, a generous eight-foot monster power cord, which is the optimum length to reach most electrical outlets, is included. Now you can get protection from harmful surges, voltage spikes and inconvenience!Monster's PowerCenters offer high performance solutions for today's technology challenges.

I purchased this UPS as a backup for my CPAP machine. It's very capable of doing the job. The LCD, and information it provides is very helpful, and appears to be accurate. You can't beat the feature set on this UPS for the price. My only real complaint is with the smell of the plastic. It will fill the room with an awful stink when this thing warms up. I'm guessing it will go away as the unit breaks in, but really shouldn't be there to begin with. I have noticed that many of the products that come from China these days have a problem with stinky plastic.

Monster Cable MP AV600 Power Protector Review

Monster Cable MP AV600 Power Protector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used Monster surge protectors in the past and had no reason to complain but when put to the test, this one totally failed me. This is your basic surge protector strip, with right angle plug and color-coded plugs for various audio-visual components. But does it give them sufficient protection? Unfortunately it did not for me. I was using it for my Tivo-TV combination and a bad storm one day fried the hard drive in my Tivo. So dock a few stars for it failing to properly protect my device. So now I get to experience this Monster warranty process. Suffice to say, you will be lucky if you get anything out of them, or can fulfill the requirements and 3 pages of information they want you to send them. In my case, I have a Tivo DVD that no one within several hundred miles of me is "authorized" to repair as they require, and they require an inspection of the damaged equipment by such a technician prior to filing a claim. I have to order a replacement part on the internet, which they don't accept and they won't reimburse after the fact. You also have to pay to send the surge protector back to them for inspection as well, so basically you have to spend a significant amount of money to file a claim and may get absolutely nothing out of it. So basically, the warranty in a lot of cases is of little use and not worth the trouble they put you through versus just paying for repairs yourself. So you can dock another star or two for that. So while I like the design of this surge protector, I probably will go looking for another one that will properly protect my equipment at least.

Average Reviews:

I purchased a new desktop computer to replace my old laptop. The external monitor and speakers required two additional outlets on my surge protector.
My old surge protector had enough outlets, but two of the power cables had plugs that took up three spaces, each. In addition, I had my surge protector, router, cables and plugs all tucked into a small space in the back drawer of my desk. THIS SURGE PROTECTOR SOLVED MY PROBLEMS. I was able to plug ALL of my devices onto this surge protector, AND it fitted perfectly into the small space.
I've had it for about a month and have encountered no problems. The 2350 Joules gives me peace of mind that my new computer will be protected. The price is pretty good, too!

I wasn't sure about taking the plunge, but I am so glad that I did! I did 6 months of extensive research for this camera, as I was scared that nothing could replace my old Sony. Almost 5 years ago, we purchased a Sony Super Steady Shot (5.1 mega pixels, was over $500 at the time) when we had our 1st baby. Sticker shock aside, I have no regrets purchasing that camera, as it has given me professional quality pictures of my family that I treasure. Fast forward 4 years, now I have 2 very active little boys and the old camera is showing its age. The shutter speed is seriously lagging and the old camera just can't keep up with our busy boys.
Enter the DSC W330. My husband purchased this camera for me for Mother's Day and received a free case and memory card with it! I have been talking for years about how I needed a small point and shoot for my purse, but thought nothing could be as good as my bulky Steady Shot. In fact, for the first few weeks of owning this camera, I carried both in my purse, afraid that I was going to miss a moment. I was afraid that a $150 camera could not possibly compare to my beloved Steady Shot. Not the case. With the DSC W330, I get clear, beautiful photos and 99% of the time the camera is on easy mode. My kids move around quickly and I still get amazing shots of them. Not one time have I thought the shutter speed was slow or that the smile finder was not good quality.
My only complaint is the volume on the videos. To watch a video and hear it very clearly, I have to plug it into the TV and turn the TV volume way up. For the pictures this delivers, it is a quirk I can live with.
If you want a professional camera with no plastic parts, I highly doubt you will find that for the $150 range. If you want a small, compact camera that takes fast, high quality pictures, take the plunge! My old camera sits on a shelf in the kitchen, officially retired. That says a lot! If you are in doubt, give the DSC W330 a chance, you will not regret it!

Belkin BE108200-06 8 Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Telephone Protection Review

There are a lot of reviews on this product, but I had to add mine. After lightning struck a tree next to our house, our neighbors suffered several appliance failures, including a blown TV. Ours, including our computer survived (plugged into one of these). More amazingly, the outlet this was plugged into blew out of the wall, frying the protector, the TV lost its color for 3 days, but then popped back in and we are still using it. Our electrician says, he's never seen anything like it, but he's recommending this surge protector now.

I recently mounted a Plasma TV on the wall and wanted to hide the wires. I initially thought about doing the "not up to code" homeowner solution which is just fishing the TV's power cable behind the wall the same as the HDMI cables. However, I'm a stickler for doing things the right way and just didn't feel comfortable doing something non-code. After investigating the cost and hassle of wiring a new receptacle box into the circuit breaker I found out about this Datacomm product. It was really easy to install, the directions were straight forward and it best of all, it's UL rated and satisfies electrical code. The only suggestion I have would be to flip the bottom outlet upside down when installing the gangbox and outlet cover. That way you make it much easier to string the wires and cables. This tip will make sense once you open up the box and start looking that the directions.

I purchased this camera specifically for a vacation to Rio de Janeiro. I also have a Nikon DSLR that I adore, but didn't want to risk carrying it around Rio. I wanted something I can easily put in my pocket and pull out to quickly take pics.
I investigated several different point-and-shoot cameras, and they all suffer that is pretty much standard issues with Point and Shoots - not dealing well with low light, blurry when compensating for low light, lag time, etc. These things are pretty much a fact with point and shoots.
After playing with a few different camera's, I opted for the Lumix DMC-FH20. The main reasons where the zoom - 8x optical, and then up to 32X digital with the right settings.
On my trip, this camera did not disappoint. Sure I had to play with the settings a little bit to get the desired effect, but I pretty much only used the Auto, Landscape, Nighttime landscape and Macro settings. All of these worked perfectly.
In low light, I had to stabilize the camera on a bench or fence, but that's expected, and not a downfall of the camera.
Overall, I love this camera and considered it well worth the price I paid (about $180us). I feel it far exceeds any other camera I have played with (around the same price point).
I would buy this same camera again - without question.
