(More customer reviews)First, to the guy who wrote the review stating there is no "text to speech", it is included! You just have to go to the languages and choose a version with a "TTS" option...
This is is very nice device. If you have looked on the web at videos of the IGo version 8 software, then you know exactly what you are getting. The unit acquires satellites very quickly from a cold start (less than 10 seconds). Routing and recalculating is good. Certainly on par with the two leaders in the GPS market (Garmin and Tom Tom). The screen is magnificent! The graphics are the best I've seen on a GPS device, although I wish I could modify the screen colors. You see terrain, texture, overpasses, bridges, etc. in 3D! The buildings and attractions are quite interesting, too. I can't wait to visit a 3D rendered city that's included in the map. (I browsed Atlanta and NYC). There are a few icons on some screens that are not accessible yet because HP has not yet opened their new Ipaq website for updates. I cannot add any contacts, etc., from Outlook yet. I'm sure the website will open soon as it is already up, just no way to access anything. Overall, a good device and one I would definitely recommend. Here are a few more features:

Magnavox MPD820 8-Inch Portable DVD Player Review

(More customer reviews)The MPD820 is a widescreen rather than "full screen" unit, which means most DVDs will play without black bars over and under the image.
The TFT LCD display is crisp, with good horizontal (side-to-side) viewing angle, which is a real-life advantage for backseat passengers in a vehicle. Predictably, vertical (up-down) viewing angle is rather less, so you may find yourself tilting the screen occasionally to find the best picture if you change your viewing position (e.g. slouching down or sitting up straight). You can adjust the color and brightness, but the factory settings are subjectively optimal.
Screen size: To my eyes, an 8" screen is noticeably bigger than a 7" screen. Sure, it costs more, but the xtra real estate is worthwhile, especially when you figure how many hours you will spend peering at the thing.
Sound: You would expect the tiny stereo speakers just below the screen to buzzy, but they are surprisingly clear. Obviously, the laws of physics have not been repealed and they produce nothing approaching bass, but the articulation of dialog is crisp (which is much more important for movies). Another pleasant surprise: There was no buzzing or harsh distortion at their relatively polite "top volume." The sound through either of the two headphone jacks is excellent.
Other observations: The aluminum and plastic case feels solid, and the screen feels securely attached by the two hinges. The removable battery (included) clips onto the back of the unit. The power cord is a little over seven feet, so you can't range too far from an outlet when using AC. Thermally, it stays cooler than a laptop, which is a plus on long flights.
A couple of gripes: 1.) The remote's white-on-gray lettering is hard to read (though the slide out battery drawer is a nice touch); 2.) While you can change scenes with the push of a button, you need to dig out the remote to fast-forward or skip back within a scene. Doh! This omission alone costs a full star; 3.) The disc handling mechanism is buzzy getting up to speed, then settles down to the barely-audible whirring common to DVD players everywhere. Sound-deadening adds cost, weight and thickness, so this is a logical and defensible design tradeoff.
As another reviewer noted, this unit is clearly sourced from the same manufacturer in China that makes the entry-level players for Mintek. One might read Mintek reviews for hints about reliability.
I have enjoyed watching movies on the MPD820 and find this is one entry-level DVD player that doesn't seem cheap at all.

(More customer reviews)We have had this player for a couple of weeks now. We recently purchased a Full Hi Def television but not quite ready to plunge another $400+ into a Blu Ray player. This little machine is a gem. It works exactly the way it should. We have it connected to the TV via HDMI and the picture is fantastic -- our SD DVDs look incredible. Not sure what the previous reviewer is referring to. There is no set up, simply connect the cable and plug it in. Also, there is no problem with the power cable -- it's standard length. The machine is sleek and intuitive. All you have to do is insert the disc -- the machine will turn on the TV, change to the proper input and load directly to the main menu. We were completely amazed the first time we inserted a movie. Honestly, if this is a small sampling of Hi Def, a Blu Ray player might be in our future soon. I cannot get over the clarity.

I do not find it to live up to all of my hopes.
Pros
-The product is sturdy as swivels nicely to be at an angle where it wont fall out.
-Bright blue indicator light at the base lets you know its plugged in and the power is working.
Cons
-Does not fit the Pre nicely. Had to significantly modify it to hold the pre in place because of the side charging plug. Originally the pads that hold it in place covered this part of the phone. The kit does come with pads you have to stick on the bottom to expose the charging plug, but it ends up sitting half out of the dock.
-No integrated microphone to base. This means you have to use the pre's mic for hands free calling, which often ends up in me yelling at the caller to hear me over road noise.
-The sound quality was ok while it worked. There was some noticeable distortion on songs I played through pandora/phone calls, but it was listenable. About 2 weeks in to using it, it developed a whomping noise I can not get rid of no matter what I try.
-The cables for power plug in that it comes with are ridiculously long. It leaves a lot of overlap that either hangs or has to be tucked in somewhere.
Overall
If they improved some of the shortcomings this could be a good product, however there are enough things holding it back for me not to reccomend it.

Sima STP-325 325-Watt Power Inverter Review

(More customer reviews)This little converter is unique. Yes it only puts out 150 watts. BUT it is the only one I have found that has no noisy fan. It is silent as the night. I had it run a small 15" lcd tv and satellite receiver in my RV. When I upgraded the TV to a 22" LCD with built in DVD player, adding the satellite receiver it struggled. Every once in awhile it would make a beep noise and the TV would turn off. I knew I needed to upgrade to a little bigger one. I have tried a few 300-400 watt models but the fan noise is too loud, you can hear it. Distracting while watching a movie. I'm considering just running two of these STP-150 (one for each piece of gear) to keep things silent. This little things grunts out plenty of power I was surprised.

Vantage Point WC60W Paintable Wire Cover System Review

(More customer reviews)The system is easy to work with, and with a hacksaw you can easily cut the pieces for a custom length.
With the Vantage Point WC60W I was able to fit the TV power cord, an RF coaxial cable, an HDMI cable, and a composite w/audio pair into the track with no problem. A comcast-style 5-wire component with audio cable bundle plus a power cord may not fit, I didn't try it, though.
The covers snap on securely, and the kit ships with a bunch of screws, enough drywall anchors to get 'er done, and has a foam-sticky-tape option already installed on the back, too.
Once installed, the whole deal looks really pro and is what I'd call as close to a "built-in installation" as you can get for the money.
A good value, it looks so good that you actually don't even notice it.

Keyspan TVI-200C TuneView for iPod classic 4G, 5G (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this product for my boat. The idea was to jack into the AUX of my boat's car stereo, have TuneView Dock plug into that, and remotely control the iPod out on the deck via the TuneView remote.
Initially it seemed to work fine. I even updated the firmware without a hitch. However, near the middle of the boating season for me (May-September), I noticed that the batteries housed in the unit (2 AA) started to rattle around, and if I shook it, they'd easily lose their connection, and the remote would go black.
I opened the battery door and looked a little closer. It appears that the actual housing for the AA batteries is physically larger than it should be, and and the battery terminals have the sole purpose of holding the batteries in place - and thus keeping the power source in tact. This is a pretty serious design flaw. What ends up happening is that over time, those slim metal terminals bend (its not like they are spring-loaded), and eventually the two AA batteries just jostle around in there and its up to the alignment of the moon and stars whether you end up getting power. I tried bending the terminals forward. This is a hack, and did not work in the end...as one of them just broke.
Here's my other issue with the unit: about a month after I had it, a black horizontal line showed up on the LCD and would not go away.
Now, here's my big issue with the company: Keyspan was purchased by Tripp Lite recently (2008). I bought the unit summer 2007. I *should* have contacted Keyspan immediately when I started to have issues...but I did not, and this is my fault.
I contacted Tripp Lite support and I was told that I could ship the unit to them at my expense, and if they thought I had dropped it, then they would simply return it to me. I explained that I felt the battery terminal issue was a design flaw, and I failed to see how that could ever be the result of dropping the unit, and they told me that "Past experience has shown us the bent battery terminals is sometimes a tale (sic) tale sign of the unit being dropped."
Given that, and the fact that I was 2 months past the 1 yr warranty, I did not ship it back. They indicated that if it was not in the 1 yr period, they were not liable to do anything anyway. I can understand that, and it is my fault for not taking more timely action, but still...I paid $170 USD for this thing, and now it is pretty much worthless.
One end of the battery terminals is a removable piece that I can probably re-inforce. The other side is soldered to the PCB, so I have fewer options there.
I felt compelled to post my experience here so others would be warned. I really feel the customer service at Tripp Lite could have taken the high-road here, but they chose not to. Your mileage may vary.

I've got my phone paired with the Bluetooth, the navigation seems very nice, Sirius radio sounds very good, even my steering wheel controls seem to work decently with the PAC SWIJACK, but... I used the Kennwood KCA-IP301V adapter to control my 120 GB iPod Classic. Immediately I noticed that it takes anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds (more often closer to 10) to switch forward or backward between songs, or to choose the songs from the list menu. Basically whenever you switch songs the unit freezes for the 10 seconds or whatever, and then resumes. Album artwork loads just as slowly too, which I really wouldn't mind being quicker, but would sacrifice in a heartbeat if it meant I could navigate between songs quicker. Also, when trying to navigate through my music using the A-Z menu, only about half of the letters actually brings up music that starts with that letter (M gets you O, P gets you R, but L might actually get you L, etc.) In essence, it's nearly impossible to listen to your music without going crazy. It can literally take you up to a full minute to try and skip ahead 6 songs!!! Try to press track advance twice (which you WILL unconsciously do when the unit doesn't respond after the first press} and then it freezes up for the 10 seconds, then skips ahead twice - which is fine if that's what you want, but often I only wanted one song skipped, so you have to press the back button, which starts the 10 second clock all over again! I called Kenwood tech support and was told that this particular new line of head units (2010 I assume) does indeed process iPod functions slower that past year's models. I was not able to confirm that a software fix might be coming later on, only that the current slow operation is "normal" for this particular lineup. Maybe a software update is coming, maybe not. Who knows?
In closing, if you intend to use your iPod like I do (my CDs never even leave the house any more), then this head unit isn't even worth the trivial price you'd pay to have it shipped to you. If you don't use iPod, then I can't imagine you being unhappy with it.
I would give this product less than one star, but I think if you leave the iPod issues out of the picture, it's a GREAT player. But if you're like me and your entire music collection is on your iPod, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Shame on you, Kenwood.
UPDATE - I purchased a brand new 64GB iPod Touch and it had the same issues with this head unit as my older iPod Classic. I have returned the unit. An awful first experience owing a Kenwood product.

Plenty of Power, Room to Grow The DNX6960 features an on-board 50W x 4 MOSFET amplifier, but also offers three sets of 5V preamp outputs (front/rear/subwoofer) for building your system.
System E's+ Crossover System A single IC that allows the user to select from 8 different high-pass filter crossover frequencies plus pass-through, with independent selection for front and rear outputs. This makes it easy to optimize the performance of all amps and speakers in a car audio system without needing an external electronic crossover. System E's+ also incorporates a phase switch and low-pass filter for the non-fading output. The low-pass filter has selectable cutoff frequencies of 50Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz and Through.
System Q EX Sound Control Five factory pre-set equalization curves (Rock, Top40, Pops, Jazz and Easy, plus a flat setting) and three speaker matching curves (OEM, 6x9, 5/4 plus a flat setting) that can be combined to give the user extreme flexibility over the sound's tonal character. The preset curves include midrange contouring, giving music more clarity and presence. (More customer reviews)My husband and I have several long road trips coming up, and purchased this player to keep me and our daughter contented on the long drives. We looked at a bunch of different units, and finally settled on this one. We are not disappointed.
Its excellent, especially in the price range its in! The picture is awesome and the sound is phenomenal for being so small and inexpensive. The battery has a good life, and its just a nice bonus that in addition to the AC adapter, it also comes with a car adapter. The construction is solid and the controls are well laid out and easy to use.
We're very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this little player to anyone looking for something quality at a decent price.

(More customer reviews)It has served me well the few weeks I have had it now. The wi-fi is keeping me connected as I'm typing this from a hotel room. The processor is nice and fast. There are four high-speed USB connections. The unit is solidly built (perhaps a mite heavy).
My only criticisms are as follows:
The screen resolution doesn't look quite as sharp as on my desktop monitor. I'd say, maybe 85% as sharp, so it's usually barely noticeable. The other thing is that the soundcard doesn't have all the mixer capabilities you might expect to find in a desktop. I don't know if this is common in laptops and I sort of stumbled upon the issue. But I got around it by purchasing an external mixer from the Guitar Center.
I initially intended it only as a travel companion but have since begun using it in my recording studio (with Cakewalk Music Creator). Oh, and to play SimCity (which doesn't work on Vista!) All in all, I am quite satisfied with it.
The seller shipped it out immediately and it arrived by FedEx or UPS (I forget which) in a matter of days (two or three, as I recall -- it was quick).

(More customer reviews)I think I may have found the first hands free device for the BlackBerry... (I'm sure it's not the first, but I sure as heck cound't find one anywhere else). NY's finest love giving new "hands free" tickets for talking on your cell phone. I can finally remove this silly bluetooth headset and talks hands free with my BB!
Sound quality is pretty good compared to what I've heard on other FM transmitters. It's not as good as the quality I've heard with friends who have line-in plugs for their Iphones, but accptable nonetheless. No static, yet.
Setup is easy. Plug it in to the 12v outlet and tune the radio station to match what you set on the connector dock. My buddy had to give me a hand with the programming, but it wasn't really that hard. It would be nice if somehow there were less cables floating around the device! but I'm content with the fact it allows me to talk hands free and it even charges too! Maybe now I can try Pandora again? I tried it earlier, but it ate too much battery. I can follow up with the results soon.

I charged up the battery per the instructions and got a video to check it out. if it hadn't had words on the opening screen I might not have noticed how bad the pixilation is, enough I would guess, to make reading the credits impossible. Neither the color nor sharpness are anywhere near as good as on the phillips (which actually costs a bit less), nor is the build quality.
This machine is unusual, in that it has a detachable battery. This *could* be an advantage as it would allow you to carry a spare and double the battery life...BUT it is just about impossible to find the spare/ replacement battery; even audiovox's site doesn't list them (among the dozens they list for other models). It's also worth noting that the way it hangs off the back is kind of clunky and means the machine will need to be treated with more care than many.
I bought this because it had such good (4.5 stars) reviews, but noticed that many are from people who bought this for a toddler or other young child, and may not even have watched it themselves. I bought this for myself, for travel, and am much less impressed.
Last year my son got a coby 10" tablet for the about the same price (actually, $20 less). It is sturdy, compact and has better picture, better build.
I was looking for something smaller (than his 10")...but this isn't- (only the screen). I may be returning this, as for just a few dollars more you can get a better picture & more features, and EVERY other portable dvd player I've seen is more compact. An 8" player should not weigh as much, and take up as much space as a 10".
I'd recommend the coby, phillips and toshiba players over this one (for good bets in this price range).
