I highly recommend that anyone considering buying an APC UPS go to their website and use the wizard to find exactly what specs they need. When you enter the specifics for your computer, and your required back-up time, it will give you three different options to chose from. The website will also give you specifics of how each power supply will handle your power requirements. Once you get all thee information come back here, and get your product of choice for about 10-15% off. How's that for a deal?
I now have a battery back up that runs my PC (AMD Athlon XP w/ 650W PS), external hard drive, 22 inch LCD monitor, my cable modem, and my wireless HUB for about 35 minutes after a power outage. Which gives me more than enough time to finish what I am doing and power down every thing if I need to. With my extended back-up time I can even work through a short power outage.
I really hope that this review was helpful. I didn't get into the specifics of why you should get a back-up power supply, because I would assume that if you are reading this review, you already know the advantages.
